It was a Monday afternoon, a man was walking through the long hallways of the high school his son was attending. The man was on his way to speak to the principal about some trouble his son was involved in. As the man was walking past classrooms he heard televisions and radios on. The kids were being loud and obnoxious and the teacher was no where to be found. The man kept walking as he glanced from classroom to classroom he noticed that some students were yelling at their teachers telling them what they don't wan to do. Just as the man was entering the office he thought to himself what is wrong with these schools today?
             Americas' public schools today are low statistically as far as tests, and performance of students. Some people blame the teachers and some blame the parents. As far as I see things it is both the parents and the teachers fault. People don't know what to do about the situations the American schools are facing. As far as I'm concerned Neil Postman, and Ernest van den Haag propose very good points on what the American school system as doing wrong, and how to fix the situations.
             I agree with the proposals of Neil Postman, and Ernest van den Haag because education in today's schools lack morals and values due to poor teaching methods. I have analyzed both of their statements and they both agree with two distinct problems in schools: Entertainment should not be used as a teaching method, and there is disorder in the classroom.
             Everyday when I was in high school a student in every other class period would either disrespect the teacher or yell at them. This wasted at least five to ten minutes of everyone's time. According to Neil Postman, "School is a special environment that requires the enforcement of a certain traditional rules of controlled group interaction" (392).
