             small town became to be known as Sleepy Hollow. It is said
             that many strange things have occurred in Sleepy Hollow, and
             continue to happen to this day. The most peculiar, and
             frightening tale surrounding this small town is the Legend
             of the Headless Horseman. The Headless Horseman is said to
             be a Hessian soldier who battled during the revolutionary
             war. (Ibid.) The soldier was said to be engaged in a battle
             in said war, when his head was taken clean off of his body
             by a cannonball. (Ibid.) The soldier (as determined by
             historians) was buried in a church yard within the small
             town. It is said that he makes a nightly journey from his
             grave sight, to the scene of the battle in an attempt to
             locate is missing head. (Ibid.) The story of the Headless
             Horseman of Sleepy Hollow gained recognition when Washington
             Irving published his novel The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In
             his story, Irving tells of a young schoolmaster named
             Ichabod Crane. Master Crane had fallen smitten to a young
