             The new society is now defined, and named, by its noel methods of acquiring, processing and distributing information. Bell is as confident now as in his earlier analysis that this amounts to a revolutionary transformation of modern society.
             Information, as a concept, comes into the world trailing clouds of glory. It is nothing less, its most eminent popularizer Norbert Wiener has aid, than the main part of life’s counter-offensive against the entropic impulse that will eventually cause the universe to run down.
             To live effectively is to live with adequate information. The timing as well as the tempo of growth indicates the computers close relationship to the evolving military requirements of the west.
             If the first two revolutions were energy revolutions – based on steam power and electricity – the third revolution, it was generally agreed, was an information revolution.
             It is the computer as the central symbol and analytical engine of change that Daniel Bell puts at the heart of his account of the coming of the Information Society. Bell had stated that “The post-industrial society is an information society, as industrial society is a goods-produsing society”.
