Burkina Faso

             Burkina Faso is located in Western Africa, north of Ghana. The climate in Burkina Faso is warm, with dry winters. The land in Burkina Faso is mostly flat, with hills in the west and southeast. Burkina Faso's natural resources are manganese, limestone, gold, copper, lead, and silver. Some environmental problems are recurring droughts, overgrazing, and deforestation.
             The population of Burkina Faso is 11,946,065. This number is steadily decreasing because of excess mortality due to aids. Th life expectancy in Burkina Faso is 46 years for the entire population. The total fertility rate for women is 6.44 children per woman. The main ethnic group is Mossi, more than 40% of the population. The main languages are French and native African languages.
             Burkina Faso exports cotton, animal products, and petroleum. Burkina Faso exports the majority of its commodities to Cote d'Ivoire. They export about 311 million dollars per year. Their debt is about 1.3 billion dollars.
             Burkina Faso's independence came from France in 1960. Following that decade governmental instability came about, damaging the economy horribly.
