w morality, then Nietzsche writes that the Superman must defend his action at all costs. Nietzsche's Zarathustra tells a Superman, "You shall seek your enemies! You shall fight your fight! You shall do battle for your thought! And if your thought succumbs, your loyalty must rejoice at its defeat!" (Nietzsche, sec. 10). The Superman has to battle for his thoughts, because in Nietzsche's opinion, the way of the Superman is the most powerful instrument to progress (Kennedy, 174).
             If Nietzsche viewed the ideas of the Superman as the main things that fueled progress, then Nietzsche saw pity as the biggest threat to progress. Pity was a menace to the Superman because it threatened the strength of what Nietzsche deemed as the Superman's most viable asset- the will. By infecting the will with pity, the Superman could lose the strength needed to struggle against society.
