             Marijuana has many nicknames: sess, pot, dope, weed, green, boom, Mary Jane, herb, buds, grass, chronic, ganja, and trees. Marijuana comes from the flowers, buds, and leaves of the hemp plant Cannabis. Smoking marijuana is almost as common as seeing someone smoking a cigarette. Some smoke marijuana to release stress, some do it to feel "grown", some because of peer pressure, and others simply because they want to but few, if any, actually know the physical affects marijuana could have on them. Although most studies concur that there hasn't been enough information and studies to make a conclusion on the exact impacts of marijuana on one's health, it is believed that the use of marijuana can affect the male reproductive system, the brain, as well as the user's respiration.
             Often, people justify their use of marijuana by equating it to drinking alcohol – unless it is abused, they don't think that it will have any effect on their bodies. But unlike alcohol, which can be metabolized and passed out of the body fairly quickly, the main ingredient of marijuana THC, tetrahydrocannabinol, can remain in the body for as long as a month after a single exposure. THC metabolites are stored in the brain, testes, ovaries, and other fatty tissues. In other words, even occasion use of marihuana will make THC to be present in the body for long periods of time, which eventually will have serious impacts on the users health.
             THC can affect the immune system by damaging the cells and tissues that help protect people from disease. The same cancer-causing chemicals that is present in tobacco smoke is also in marijuana, sometimes at even higher rates. Those chemicals tend to cause users to develop the same kinds of breathing problems that people who smoke cigarettes have. The smoking of marijuana irritates the breathing passages.
