The play Loot

             Joe Orton writes the play, Loot. While awaiting a burial, the poor late Mrs. McLeavy is removed from her coffin so that her devious son and his crony can hide a sum of stolen money. Their mother's nurse, the often-widowed Fay, who has had overwhelmingly, seven husbands, which all have died under mysterious circumstances, has designs on the grieving widower. However a change in Fay fate has her discover the loot which had been hidden. This results in her demanding her own cut. Shortly after, the brilliant "Inspector Truscott of the Yard", enters the house. Not hesitating at the least bit; he quickly begins interrogating each member of the family, including the hapless widower Mr. McLeavy, in searching for clues. McLeavy, who has found himself lying about the stolen money in order to protect his greedy son, ends up being double-crossed by the one he so loved and bored. Consequently, it becomes the son who decides to testify against his father's good name. A bizarre, con!
             clusive ending leaves the innocent bystander, Mr. McLeavy, the only one who is really ends up being taken into custody, with all the weight, while the true criminals enjoy all the benefits. For the remaining characters, a blissful life expectancy can be thought of. For example, Truscott sees that order is restored while Fay plans on marrying McLeavy's son.
             This play deals with the power of money and what it will make people do. A disturbing part of the play is when Hal becomes so willing to dump his own mother out of her coffin for a chance to keep a "cool million". That shows the greediness of money. There is also a very interesting scene at the beginning of the act in which Hal and Fay explain how they can so easily turn them in if they don't give them a cut of loot.
