Trance Music Analysis

             Have you ever exclaimed to yourself, "This is so bizarre!" The puzzling look on your face reflects your mind and starts a wheel to turn. You go about a methodical way of asking yourself questions about what it may be that you are trying to make sense of. The best way you know to make something seem "normal" is to interpret it into a version that suits you best. The object of your intense thought could be completely different and far less harmless then whatever ridiculous idea pops into your head. Still you go into deep thought and emerge with an explanation based on your life experiences. Most definitely once you have begun this way of interpretation, all other situations involving any controversial cultural production receives the same treatment. Because so many wonderful products of our culture are hammered to a bloody pulp this way, I feel Susan Sontag's view on interpretation gives much needed reform to human analysis.
             So what is it that angers us about the unfamiliar? The fact that we demand an on the spot knowledge of everything we encounter, shows much ignorance and laziness. We tend to create something for personal delight if it is not apparent. We dig and dig for whatever may or may not be there. When did everything that gets presented before us need to be personally satisfactory? This modern form of interpretation arose when the old way of interpretation was thrown out the window. Sontag says the new form "excavates, and as it excavates, destroys; it digs 'behind' the text, to find a sub-text which is the true one"(665). She captures the virus in its infective path. This adverse and tyrant way of viewing art as well as other objects creates a world where no loving description exists anymore.
