sting moment I remember is when Allison cried for the first time during the night. The sound scared me, but then annoyed me when I realized what it was. I think the sound scared my parents a little bit too, because I could hear them stir across the hall. The next morning my mom was on the phone with my grandma telling her that we had a new person living with us. She then congratulated my grandma on becoming a great-grandmother again. My grandma was in shock. She did not understand what was going on at all. My mom then explained to her about the Baby Think It Over and what my assignment was for my parenting and child development class. My grandma was relieved after my mom explained everything to her.
Allison and my dog, Abu, also had an interesting encounter. When Abu heard Allison cry for the first time, she started running back and forth between my mom and me like she was worried. You could tell that she thought something was wrong. Abu had never heard a baby cry before so her reaction was interesting. Even after Allison stopped crying and while I held the key in her, Abu kept pacing around the living room like she was worried. Maybe it was a motherly instinct in her, but whatever it was we had never seen her act like that before.
Those are the little things that I remember about my weekend with Allison. There were funny times like in the video store, and annoying times like in the middle of the night. Whatever the situation, it was a good experience for my family and me. It made me realize that I am happy with the life that I have now. Most importantly though, it made me realize that I am nowhere near ready to have a baby.
