The Science Of TV

At first i was very skeptical about attending the Science Symposium because I thought that it was going to be only about thing that really didn't interest me. I enjoyed this seminar I feel that it was very educational and interesting to participate in.
I attended the Science of TV seminar that was presented by Scott Healy, an Assistant Professor at Sullivan County Community College. He talked about how the images we see on TV are in actuality a large amount of small dots called pixy dots. He also called the images an illusion made by light being reflected of our eyes, which helps us to think that the images are 3 dimensional. The pixy dot move so rapidly together to form the image the dots move and that is how the movement is made on the screen. In order for the class to understand what he was explaining to us Professor Healy told us to think of the sun. When the sun is at it's hottest point the sky is blue and as the day goes on and the day light goes the color of the sky begins to change from red to then no color.
When our eyes are closed or it is dark we are not able to see that is because we are not getting any light reflected off of them. So when we are watching images on TV the light is a main factor in the illusion because it leads us to believe that what we are seeing is 3 dimensional adding thee depth to the height and width. Professor Healy also briefly told us about how he can take picture images and manipulated the any way he'd like to just by using the computer.
I enjoyed myself at the science symposium because it made m look at science in an entirely different perspective. It made fun of something I thought was the dullest subject. I enjoyed the seminars and the activities and how they mixed these together it was educational and fun at the same time. Why can't it always be like this?
