Snoop Dogg

             Snoop Dogg, the gangsta rapper from the West Coast shows how rapping helped to straighten out his life. From the very start Snoop had it pretty rough living on the streets and all. He had done some rapping with his friends, but it never really went anywhere until the right person had heard him. After he began singing his life story, his life made a major u-turn. Snoop Doggy Dogg, A West Coast Gangsta Rapper, had a rough start in life, but then decided to turn to rap, expressing himself through his music.
             Snoops life as a kid actually wasn't all that bad, or at least until he became a teenager that is. Calvin Broadus, Snoop's real name, was given the name Snoop do his resembalance to Snoopy, the dog on Charlie Brown. His father awarded him this name stated that he looked like a dog because of all the hair on his head as a baby. He was born on October 20, 1972 in Long Beach California. Here he had a number of friends including future rapper Warren Griffin, "Warren G." Like any other normal kid, snoop was involved in sports, especially basketball, and was even a very academic student.
             Snoop later made a turn for the worst. He dropped out of high school and wound up in jail a couple of weeks later for posession of cocaine. Drugs began to destroy the top dogg. After joining the L.A. Crips Snoop was heavily into selling drugs and the life of crime. He spent the next three years bouncing in and out of prisons.
             It was in prison that Snoop realized he had to change. His fellow inmates even told in to straighten up because he had talent that he was wasting. After several attempts, Warren G. finally got his step brother Dr. Dre to listen to one of Snoops homemade tapes. Dre fell in love instantly and took Snoop in under his wing.
