As a immigrant of Canada, my opinion about Immigration policy of Canada is:
It should not only benefit to Canada, but also should benefit to immigrants. In Charles
Campbell's book, there is one important part about immigration the author does not
Firstly, as we know, there must be some benefit for the people to take the action of
leaving their homeland and immigrating to Canada. The benefit could be good salary for
themselves, good education for their kids, or good environment for their family. Only
when people feels he can have the benefit he wants from Canada does person can leave
his old life away, and comes over Canada to begin his new life. Therefore, if the policy of
immigration of Canada is only Maximize benefit to Canada but does not benefit to
immigrants, no people wants to come.
Secondly, in Campbell's point of view, large numbers of sponsored family members
without skills or literacy let into Canada and become a heavy burden of Canada. But the
author did not say anything about the contribution of the sponsors. They work hard, pay
the high taxes, their money goes to the social programs. They benefit to this country, So
there is nothing wrong for their family members benefit from this country.
The most important, the only reason for people to immigrate is to wants to have a good
life. But what good for a person has a nice job, big money, but lonely. Immigrants are not
just work force for Canada, they are human beings, to be with their families are the most
important things for them. So there should no reason to refuse their families reunion. As a
result, only the policy which benefit to both Canada and immigrants is a good rule for
