In this day and age, people are crazy when it comes to money. As Jacob Needleman says "wanting money above all else is an obsession to our times." It is not the things people can buy with money that they so desperately need, it is just the money that they want. I have noticed how people react to money in the twentieth century, and I notice how obsessive people are towards it; however, I can not really say how people reacted to money in earlier centuries because I was not around during that era. I have read articles and heard from others in conversation that money was not an obsession in early years compared to current years.
             Later in the writing, the author writes about an newspaper clipping which she read. In the New York Times she saw an article on the first page about a woman who was living in poverty. The only things which this woman owned were the clothes which she was wearing. When Kelly saw this article she wondered and asked herself the question "Has my money got anything to do with her poverty?" According to Kelly most of the people who care about this issue would argue this question by saying "Wealth generates poverty, therefore you solve poverty by redistributing wealth." Personally, I do not have an opinion about this issue because I really can not say if it has an impact on the situation of poverty or not; however, I think that this argument makes a clear strong point.
