             The city wondered why such a noble rich young man would want to live his life as a poor friar. After hearing of Thomas' decision his mother rushed to Naples to see her son. The Dominicans thought that Theodora would try to take Thomas away so they sent him to Paris. Once hearing of the Dominican's action Theodora sent Thomas's brothers, who at the time were soldiers, to apprehend Thomas. Thomas was confined to the Fortress of San Giovanni. It was here that Thomas's family tried to persuade Thomas to leave his calling. At one point a women was brought to Thomas's room to try to seduce the young friar. He chased her out of the room with a hot piece of metal from the fire, (Kennedy.) Thomas's time imprisoned, however, was not completely lost.
