Man is the most menacing of all animals sent to this Earth. This is because he can think. He uses his intellect in the wisest and most cunning manner. He will break all rules, modify any testament and stand rebellious against any restriction, merely to suit his wishes. As wishes are fulfilled by the rapidly materializing World, new wants immediately crop up. People want to live a dignified and prosperous life, then die in dignity; only a minute fraction of the populous smile when they are in immense pain, be it physical or emotional. Generally, all want to get rid of pain, even if the price is their life. In fact, the mode to allow termination of one's life in extremely painful conditions is becoming common by the day. Euthanasia, which is an acutely contradictory act, is being practiced at will; to die in dignity.
             Murder must not be compared to euthanasia because it can not be justified except for cases of self-defense or the well being of the society! The murder of a psycho or an assassin may well be justified, but the slayer of any innocent citizen by robbers or terrorists can by no means be validated. Euthanasia, on the other hand can be claimed and proved correct, but only under certain circumstances. If a person is brain-dead, his neurons are dead; a time comes when the damage is no more reversible. The doctor and the patient's family can then come to a mutual agreement to end the patient's life. Such a decision would, however, be very difficult and contradictory to religious aspect, but morally it would not be a wrong decision, keeping in mind the circumstances.
             Challenging the point that euthanasia is legitimate, I would say it is very closely linked to suicide. A severely ill person may get dismal. The intense pain he has to go through may make him claim the right to choose death as the easiest solution to his problem.
