g had a purpose--it goes into truth. Orestes is eventually tried for the murder of his mother. The furies are the prosecutors and Apollo is the defense. The jury ends up with a tie vote and Athena is called upon to break the tie. She sets Orestes free, and the Furies become angry. Athena offers the Furies a special place if they don't harm Athens. They accept and are transformed into the Eumenides. In the end, the opposite forces reconcile and are turned into a positive force. this positive view represents a great Athenian society.
