             Frances Hill tells the story of the Witchcraft Trials
             based on the fact that the decline in religion was to blame.
             Religion many times is abused and used to "frightened
             instead of helping us transcend it." Puritans from the time
             they were old enough to know what God was were taught to
             fear him. Many believed that he was an angry God and that
             he already picked those he was gong to save. This theory is
             far different from what some believe today. As children
             many are taught that God is loving. That he will save
             anyone so long as he or she lives a life without sin.
             There are many theories as to why many were accused.
             Many women were accused just because they were going to
             inherit property. Many thought that if there was not a male
             heir to inherit the land of a dying father or husband that
             the women had something to do with it. Many looked upon
             women that were single or widowed as deceiving. Women were
             not permitted to have a higher stature than men and when
             they did it was a great down fall on the women's part.
