Working twelve hours a day every weekend during college is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. The work I was doing simple and repetitive, and I wanted to quit after the first day. However, being a graduate of high school, I figured that for the first time in my life I would stay with something. Not knowing what would come of my newfound attitude, I set to work every weekend. And this new found attitude brought an important positive figure back in my life.
After I graduated high school my father and I have hardly spoken. The differences in the way we live our lives have caused this downfall. Everyday I go to work wishing my dad would appreciate what I want to do for a living. But instead of telling him how I feel I keep it inside and do not speak to him. Then one day after I got home from work I received a phone call from my dad. Not knowing what to say, we didn’t talk much to each other. But what my dad said to at the end has had one of the most positive effects of my life. For the first time my father told me that he was proud of me, and that meant the world to me.
That was by far the event that had the most positive effect one me last week. That event had by far the most positive effect on my life. Knowing that I don’t need to worry about my father disapproving what I do, or him not being proud of me the most important thing in my life. And by working twelve hours a day he saw that I was not a kid anymore.
