Comparision

The poem "The World is Too Much With Us" by William Wordsworth, is similar to the poem "Among School Children" by W.B. Yeats, in many ways but different in many other ways. "The World is Too Much With Us" is a poem that symbolizes negativity. The poem deals with the idea of no power and no say. It looks back in the past and shows how people have given their hearts, and yet there is nothing to show for it. The author sees himself rather being a pagan then living in world that is out of "tune". In the poem "Among School Children", the poem symbolizes hope, and happiness. Unlike William Wordsworths poem, that deals with everything being out of tune, W.B. Yeats creates a happier atmosphere like that of beautiful music. In both poems the characters look back and reflect upon what has happened in the past. In the poem "Amongst School Children", there are many questions to be answered unlike the other poem where only statements were made. The title of the poem "The World is !
Too Much With Us", gives off the feeling of depression and sadness unlike the title of "Amongst School Children", which gives off the feeling of promise and a lively future. Both poems can be seen as different outlooks on reflecting the past.
