God Emperor of Dune is the fourth book in the Dune series. The "God Emperor" is the son of Maud'Dib the main character form the first book. He has undergone a physical transformation, giving him most of the body of a Dune sandworm, while retaining his mind and prescient powers. The Universe is completely in his grip. Even the farthest planets are under his control.
The time scale of the Dune books is really wired. This volume is set a few thousand years after the end of book three. The God Emperor has been slowly transforming into the Great Worm for the entire period between the two novels. The Emperor is called a savoir by some and a tyrant by others. None the less he rules supreme. The book is mostly from the emperor's point of view. The book has all of the emperor's observations on human behavior and what he thinks of humans. He likes to test people and see how they react. He likes to talk about how history always repeats itself. He is mostly the only main character in the book. All the other characters are just sub characters in the saga that is the God Emperor.
The best part about this book was when the emperor falls in love. And the woman loves him too. Her name is Hwi Nkee. The did not have a love with there bodies but with there souls. They where to be married. The end of the book will tell you why they don't get married.
This story speaks of the future and with speaking of the future anything is possible. So I would have to say that this story could happen. I believe that in the future we will have knowledge of other planets and life forms so I guess the sky's the limit when it comes to the future.
God Emperor of Dune is another book with a nice snap ending. This book has a non-predictable ending when some people like and some don't. Overall this is a book worth reading.
