Her name was Jake. She was new to Greentown. She had long, black hair that the sun glistened off. A delicate figure with a slim, pale body. She was graceful when she walked, like she was walking on a cloud or cutting through the sky like a sawn cuts through the water. Her eyes, that is what I remember most. Blown glass blue, the kind that looked straight into your soul. They told me everything that her soul desired. They would open up doors in your mind that you thought you locked forever. She knew everything in you.
She was beautiful, but John didn't like her. John would call her names, and make fun of her name because it was that of a boys. He would ask me why I never said any thing about her. I just replied, "I have nothing to say and I don't want to waste my time talking about her" then I would suggest something to do.
When I would see her walk by, I would stray away from Tom and John or whomever would be with us that day. I would follow her and see where she would go, I could see where she lived from the front of my house. I would sit on my porch swing to see if I could get just a glimpse of her. Sometimes I see her looking back at me. She was beautiful, an untouchable beauty. She was only in Greentown for an unnotable time. Not many people remember her or even acknowledged her existence. She spent most of her time watching the birds fly by, or listening to the animals that dwelled in the ravine. I could see from my bedroom window the big hill on which she sat to watch the sun set.
On the night before she left, I remember it well, I saw her sitting on the hill, watching the sun slowly descend beneath the horizon. The sky was split like a torn apart jigsaw puzzle and the smell was sweet, like dandelions. I walked up to her and sat down, like I was her best friend that was lost in the wrinkles of time. We didn't say anything to each other, just sat there until the sun disappeared and what felt like...
