The Electorial College has caused a lot of controversy over the past
             several years. For example, our most recent presidential election which
             put Vice President Al Gore up against the Governor of Texas, George
             W. Bush. This election went down to the wire. It was the closest
             presidential election of all time according to former president Bill
             Clinton. This election came down to the state of Florida. Al Gore
             ordered three recounts in this state, all which were approved by a
             grand jury. If the way that we tally votes was back to how it used to
             be then none of the recounts would have ever occurred in the first
             place. Al Gore would be the new President of the United States of
             America because he had over three thousand more total votes then
             How could one candidate have more total votes then the other
             candidate and still lose the election? That seems really unfair to the
             the candidate that lost but more importantly, it seems unfair to the
             thousands of U.S. voters because they aren't getting what they want.
             What they wanted was for Al Gore to be the new President of the
             United States of America. The majority usually rules but not in this
             Al Gore had every logical reason in the world to ask for all
             of those recounts that took place in Florida. When it comes down to
             something as important as the leader of a country, people deserve a
             true winner. With the Electorial College there may never be a true
             winner of another presidential election.
