According to the United States Census Bureau there are 3.2 million people with a college degree. Compared to the United States population this is not that many graduates. Here at Fairmont State College only three out of 10 students will graduate.
             Fairmont State is the biggest state college in West Virginia. But the percentage of college graduates in our state is very low. There is only 7% of West Virginians with a college degree and only three to four percent with masters of professional degree. West Virginia's population is 1,793.477, # of college graduates is 88,136 and number of people with a masters or higher is 56,382.
             Fairmont State is known for is quality and excellence in academics. We offer over 130 different degree programs and these include: 1-year certificate, 2-year associates degree program, and a 4-year bachelor degree program.
             There are over 6,627 students that make up FSC and this includes the Clarksburg Center and other off campus sites with the average student ranging from the ages 25-27 years old. The North Central Association of Colleges and schools accredit Fairmont Sates.
             In order to be admitted into the 4-year program at FSC a student must have one of the following: 2.25 GPA, 19 or better composite ACT score, or a 910 or better on his/her SAT.
             Fairmont State College offers four types of financial aid. Grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study programs, and all are based on financial need and merit. 60% of the students at FSC receive some form of financial aid or a combination of these. Financial aid is determined by a national agency using the information families provide on their FASFA form.
