38% of the continent of Africa consisted of forests. Now only 30% of Africa's forest areas still exist today (Best). The majority of Africa's forests are removed because people either need to plant crops or need the wood as fuel. African wetlands are the biggest source of water for the animals that live on Africa. In the 1980's dams were built and the wetlands were completely drained of water (Lindley, David). Causing animals in Africa to die of dehydration (Lindley, David). People don't realize there is more to a forest then just wood. Forests are a home, they are food, and they are a safe place for the animals that live there. Where else can animals go to live? There is no other place. Animals like birds, small rodents and reptiles are forced out of forests and end up dying. The birds, small rodents and reptiles are the food source to larger animals like cats, and wild dogs. Without the food source for the larger animals they end up dying off as well. Every part of life is balanced. The forests are needed to keep the small animals alive, while the small animals are needed to keep the large animals alive. The only thing that throws this constant circle off balance is human kind. Whatever human beings have in common with other living things, there is one characteristic that is the humans exclusive genius: human's are seemingly the only species working deliberately towards their own destruction, as well as all species on earth (Stuart 1). People don't realize how big of a need there is for animals in their world. With out other animals there would be no food for people to eat. The earth would become one big city that is over populated. Humans need to stop wiping out forests and hunting animals.
Hunting animals became popular for many reasons. One of these reasons is for the fun of it. Animal hunters say it is a sport to kill off as many animals as one could (Feral). The bigger and fie...
