When ever we turn on the television, open a magazine, or flip on a car radio we are directly faced with advertisements for every product that is imaginable. The majority of these advertisements, if not all, are related to something sexual. In America sex sells and it is very obvious in almost every advertisement. Various companies use sexual advertisements to sell their product or service.
             Here is one example of a sexual orientated advertisement. Toyota, a well-respected company in the United States and abroad, used a sexually orientated advertisement in the latest issue of "Allure" magazine. The advertisement is showing a product from Toyota, which is a newly styled RAV-4. This small suv is being pushed in the younger generation market. The advertisement has an attractive young woman riding a mountain bike in a black, short, cocktail dress with high heels on, and the vehicle is in the background on the side of a mountain. Toyota catches your attention with the woman. Toyota wants to get you to stop flipping the pages and read their ad. I stopped and remembered the ad, Toyota did its job with this advertisement, and they have created brand remembrance.
             A popular advertisement on television right now is an ad for Herbal Essence a shampoo and conditioner, is another example. The advertisement starts with an attractive woman in a courtroom where she is one of the lawyers, the next thing you know she is being swept away by four men that have no shirts on and they start washing her hair. She demonstrates that she is having an invigorating experience and the slogan for the product is "for an organic experience". This ad is directly selling sex to the consumer. There is even a cameo appearance by the famous Dr. Ruth at the end and she is smiling and saying that consumers should try this product. This product is market directly marketed to women of all ages and the hint that is good for you and your hair...
