Social differences between sex, race, class, and prestige

Sociological Differences Between Men, Women, Blacks, and Whites
Have you ever wondered how you compare with the opposite sex in income level, highest year of high school completed, or occupational prestige? If you are white or black, have you ever thought about your equality? I have researched the General Social Survey (GSS) from the 1996 data set and analyzed the significance of these specific variables. The variables I am referring to are education level, occupational prestige, and income. I will report my hypotheses on these variables and compare them with the actual data.

In society, there is a stereotype that males automatically earn more than women. In reality, this is true. Men reportedly earn more money per year than women (t=7.68, df=2746, Sig.=.0).
Men and women are pretty even when it comes to occupational prestige. According to the GSS in 1996, there was no significance between men's occupational prestige and women's occupational prestige. Again, I would have thought that men would have had a slightly higher level of occupational prestige, but I guess that goes to show us that women are coming up in society( t=.65, df=2779,
