Just because a woman does not say "no", does not mean she is saying "yes". It's amazing what a person is often willing to do when trying to get what they can't have. In particular instances, a person can cross the line when trying too hard to acquire what they can't have. Often times, trying so hard will push away the item or person they are trying to obtain. An instance in which this could happen is when a man is pursuing a woman. In many cases a man will go so far as to even stalk the woman he wants to be with. There are many disputes as to whether a man is stalking a woman or whether he is simply trying to court her. Many times a man will have gone too far without knowing so and the woman hasn't come out and said "no". The next question is; should the woman have to say the word no or is other ways of saying no sufficient?
In the play "Boy Gets Girl" by Rebecca Gilman, a man in his thirties named Tony tries to court a woman named Theresa. They are set up on a blind date through a mutual friend and first go out to a bar and have a beer with each other. Needless to say, they really didn't hit it off to well. Theresa was running late and said she was trying to call using her cell phone but there was no dial tone according to her. Later in the evening Theresa receives a call and they assume that it couldn't make outgoing calls but could receive incoming calls. Theresa had already started the date off with a lie. Secondly, they have totally different interests. Theresa enjoys the New York Yankees while Tony doesn't even keep up with baseball. Theresa begins to talk about the Miller High Life beer and states that it is the "champagne of beers". Tony has never had the Miller High Life and Theresa comes back with, "well, if you had been living the high life you would have". Right from the beg!
