             Most laws serve a purpose. They are there to prevent people from getting out of control and hurting other people. There is one law, however, that does none of this. This is the no tolerance policy for minors who are attending an under age drinking party. The law states that anyone under the age of twenty-one will be issued a citation for minor in possession, weather they have been drinking or not. This law serves no purpose other than another way for officers to meet their quota at the end of every month.
             I myself have been the unfortunate victim of the no tolerance policy. I was at my friend Justin's house playing pool, and hanging out with my friends. This is a place that we hang out at almost every Friday and Saturday night. One of the people at the house had his tires slashed while his car was sitting in the driveway. The perpetrator also threatened his life. We called the police thinking that we were doing the right thing, and that they would be able to help us out. When the police arrived at the house they entered the garage and saw a couple of empty beer bottles sitting on Justin's Dad's work bench. Naturally the cops asked about the empty containers. We told them that the bottles have probably been there a couple of weeks and that they are from Justin's dad. We said that we all would be happy to take breathalyzers if there is any problem. They refused us, and proceeded to cite every person for minor in possession. We had not even been drinking. After they !
             were done citing everyone, they got to the slashed tires and the threat to the victim's life that they had originally came there for.
             There wasn't even anyone drinking at this party, but there usually is when the cops bust one. Even then, I believe that anyone who is not drinking and who passes a breathalyzer should not be issued a minor in possess
