In Erving Goffman's' "The Presentation of self in everyday life", Goffman describes how people transact and confirm identities in face-to-face encounters. And Goffman also describes how people establish a molding with in which to evaluate the meaning of encounters. I agree that people act differently when in contact with different people in different environments.
             Erving Goffman worked to describe the structure of face-to-face communication and to report for how that structure was involved in the interactive tasks of everyday life. Goffman's concepts are useful in describing and understanding interactions. One of the things people need to do in their relations with others is to present themselves as an acceptable person. People always put a front on when introduced to different and new people. By "front" I mean, people putting on an act just like Goffman's states in his book. One example may be how people act different with a good friend than with a boyfriend or girlfriend. If people go to an environment that is unfamiliar to them, they must be prepared to present themselves with a certain care, and knowledge of the particular environment. People who are not prepared for the new environment usually seem embarrassed. Goffman sees embarrassment as an important indicator of where people fail to present an acceptable self. A perso!

Most of the time, we interact in a comfortable manner in which it appears as if everyone knows what they are talking about, can remember the names of those who they're talking to, and have an appearance that is pleasant and unacceptable. So we are presented for the purpose of interacting with each other, and we learn how to react with one another through other interactions.
