to high school in Rutherford and did poorly because of his wild behavior. William was put into Horace Mann High School in New York City. He made the journey from Rutherford to New York everyday (Williams 43). William liked to go to this school and took his work seriously because of the teachers and atmosphere (Williams 44). He did go to college because the medical school of the University of Philadelphia accepted students directly from certain high schools, including Horace Mann. After being accepted to medical school, he decided that he wanted to quit to pursue writing. (Williams 50)
             The woman who Williams wanted to marry married his brother. After this tragedy, he carelessly married her sister. He was lucky with the choice he had made because he lived happily with her for the rest of his life (Longman 1). Williams wrote many poems about his wife Florence ( ). He had two sons with her, named William Eric and Paul Herman.
             William was a doctor and multi-faceted writer (Ryan 3182). Williams' first book was named Poems. He printed this twenty-two-page pamphlet with his own money. Williams sold 4 copies of the pamphlet at twenty-five cents a piece. Williams wrote three novels. The first was known for its presentation of a baby, which was based on his wife Florence.
