Book Review of "Weep Not, Child"
             "The story is based entirely on the existence of the family of Ngotho in which their views and ideas are clearly expressed. The roles in which men and women accept are very evident throughout the entire book. Also feelings towards the different cultures which resulted in certain stereotypes helped in portraying the entire atmosphere in which each culture saw the world through their eyes
             In the beginning of the book you are explained the atmosphere which is upheld throughout the book. The Black, Indian, and White people all have something in come, the want and need of power. Once they obtain this power, they will do anything to keep it and make sure lower class people never reach the status which they have worked so hard for. This theme started to become evident towards the middle chapters when you really knew what some of these people had envisioned for the rest of their life. To explain this and the intro of this review, I will summarize these particular events and explain how they made me feel.
             First of all, when reading this book, the author uses the concept of foreshadowing in a not so obvious way. The most important events later unfold in some unfortunate but
             obvious situtations which were bound to happen. For instance after the conflict between Jacobo and Ngotho, Njoroge had ventured into Jacobo's house with his daughter Mwihaki. At the time of this event, Jacobo did not think anything of Njoroge visiting the house, only that he was a student that attended school with his daughter. Although, this situation was brought up again in later chapters. The idea that Njoroge had been at the house that day was connected with the Mau Mau or the Freedom Fighters which lived in the forest. While coming to a pivotal event in my reading, my only expression was, "Oh, I see now ..". This expression I had occurred many times throughout this book, which attracted me to keep ...
