My freshman year of high school I went to my friend, Shifali's house for a party. At the party, I saw a statue and alter of a Buddha. Some kids thought it was a toy and started playing with it. When Shifali's mom saw the kids playing with it, she got very upset. None of us understood why, until she explained that they were from the India and they worshiped the Buddha religion. I still don't quite understand what that means, so I decided to do some research on the culture of India, religion in India, and the education system in India. The land of India is over fifty thousand years old and is a little more than one-third the size of the United States (Heitzman and Worden XXXV). Guatama Buddha was an Indian philosopher and the founder of Buddhism (Life of Buddha 2000). India has always been a center for learning.              The Indian civilization is over fifty thousand years old (Heitzman and Worden XXXV). Not only is it the second most populated but also it is the seventh largest country of the world. It is slightly more than one third the size of the United States. India lies in Southern Asia. Its coastline is about 7,000 km long, and borders the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean (History of India 2000). In the west, its land border is Pakistan, Bangladesh and Mayanmar are in the east. Tibet and China are the land borders to the north. There are three main geological regions in India: Indo-Gangetic Plain and the Himalayas. The ten physiological regions are: Indo Highlands, Deccan or Peninsular Plateau, East Coast, West Coast, Great Indian Desert, and Rann of Kutch (History of India 2000).
