Influences on Nonverbal Communication

             INFLUENCES ON NONVERBAL COMMUNICATIONS
             Besides communicating verbally, we also communicate nonverbally. This kind of communication can be with the rolling of the eyes, posture, the way we shake a person's hand or even the tone in our voice while speaking. All of these to a certain degree can be influenced by biological sex and the way we socialize. As you will see in this essay, I will tell you about nonverbal communication, gender, and culture.
             Our sex has a lot in the way we communicate. Men and women have a very different nonverbal way of communicating, which can make it very hard for one another to understand what the opposite sex is trying to say. With men when talking to someone they tend to not make eye contact, they tend to stay farther away from a woman when talking to then. Men also avoid other people's body space while talking, they also tend to recline or sit back when talking, and they seem to be fidgety while listening to someone else. These traits may seem like a man is not interested in what the speaker is saying. On the other hand, women are more attentive to what they speaker is saying and women rarely interrupt a person speaking. They will smile, nod, or even look the speaker in the eyes to let them know that they are paying attention.
             Men and women are very quite different in their ways of communicating. Men are much harder to understand in all of their styles of communication. From mumbling to short snappy answers, and poor eye contact, makes communicating with men much worker than women. Women are better listeners; they show that they are interested in what the other person is saying. As far as gender goes in communications women are far much better at communicating with than men.
