Smoking is one of the most common causes of death today. Smoking can cause serious injury to one self. Some of the effects that are caused by smoking are emphysema, lung cancer, throat cancer, stained teeth, and eventually death. I have had a family experience with one of the main cause of smoking. This experience is emphysema.
             For example, my grandfather had emphysema from smoking and died last year on Labor Day. He suffered from this disease for at least 10 years and had three surgeries from it. He had 25% of one lung taken out and 30% of the other lung taken out because those parts were dead from smoking. He ended up on oxygen for the last five years if his life. He would total rely on the oxygen to get him through the day. Throughout his struggle with emphysema he relied on his wife to do everything for him. She would dress him, bath him, and feed him. We wouldn't leave the house because he didn't have the energy or strength to walk around or do anything.
             Smoking is one of the habits that should never be started. It could ruin a life forever. Smoking causes so much pain and suffering for loved ones and for you. Once emphysema consumes a life then there is nothing that someone could do.
