Catcher in the Rye

             Holden believes in innocence. The only thing drawing him out of innocence are the temptations of the adult world like drinking, sex, and the normal relations that occurs between adults.
             I. Drinking draws Holden out of innocence.
             1. When he's at the bars he'd talk to women
             A. Holden is assuming the adult role by going to the bars
             2. He'd order drinks for the women
             A. Holden sees that the adult thing to do when you like a woman
             B. In order to talk to a woman it'd be nice to buy her a drink
             3. He'd dance with them as well
             A. Another things adult likes to after the drink is dance
             B. Holden wanted to feel apart of something
             II. Holden is interested and wants to play a part in the conversations between adults
             A. Holden looks towards Adults for guidance and information
             1. Holden listens and tries to understand his " first teacher"
             A. Holden realizes that his " first teacher" is looking out for him
             B. Holden realizes that his " first teacher" has some good advice
             2. Nuns offered good advice and information
             A. Holden talks to one of them about Romeo and Juliet
             3. Mr. Antolini offers the only real good advice
             A. Mr. Antolini guides Holden, he tells him he's heading for the deep end
             B. Holden respects Mr. Antolini's intelligence
             III. Lies draw Holden out of innocence
             A. Holden lies about his identity
             1. He first lies about his age where he's from and where he works
             A. He lies to the 3 girls that he met at the bar.
             2. Holden lied about being an adult to the mother of his classmate, Ernest Morrow and he also lies about he is and what kind of kid her son is.
             IV. Sex draws Holden out of innocence
             A. Holden is extremely interested in hearing and thinking about sex
