as a radical group whose methods were more violent then the mainstream Haganah, they proclaimed an "armed warfare" against the British Mandatory government. The Irgun, the underground army, bombed and destroyed a wing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem which was the British headquarters. Ignoring the warnings that the Irgun gave about the bombing, Jews and Arabs died together with the British. The Irgun also raided British army camps, and seized arms and sabotaged other police, army, and airforce equipment.
             Begin and the Irgun received substantial criticism from the press and people all over, headlines read: "Jews in Palestine Warned on Terror"(New York Times 10/11/44, Page 14), "Extremists Renew Palestine Violence"(New York Times 9/21/45, page9),
