"bourgeois" order. The rebuttals to each are prolific, but the main points are:
             1. The priests remained always wholly subject to the will of the pharaoh who could have easily diverted funds from the priesthood of Amun elsewhere should he perceive a threat.
             2. The "new men" were in fact the sons of nobles, promoted before their time to ensure their loyalty.
             3. The "revolutionary" ideas were an evolutionary step from the developing solar theology of the New Kingdom.
             In any case, all three are almost entirely useless because they apply a modern, Western frame of interpretation to a time before this culture existed. In my opinion, psychological arguments would probably yield the most accurate motives, unfortunately Akhenaten is not exactly available to lie on a psychologist's coach.
