             John was also forced to fight even while he was extremely sick. John was so sick that he could not even eat, yet he was put out on patrol. Finally, after 2 weeks in the hospital, John was back fighting. There was no break from the death that was all around him wherever he went.
             Death and violence were probably the main reasons for Johns PTSD. Of the hundreds of violent events John witnessed, a few have stuck in his mind through today. Perhaps one of the worst things to happen to him during the war was when his buddy was killed. They were sitting together having some lunch while talking about home when a snipers round blew open his buddies head. Brain matter covered John and his food while his friends body dropped to the ground. Having your friend die right before your eyes, especially in the way that he did, is one of the most traumatic things that can ever happen to a person. After John returned from the hospital he was back out on patrol. They were searching for three soldiers that disappeared and eventually they were found. Not only were they dead, they were defaced and the had their penises cut off and put in their mouths. Not that this wasn't traumatic enough, they now had to worry that this could easily happen to themselves. This eve!
