Lost Angel

             I have read many books in the past, but "Lost Angel" by Marilyn Wallace was a book to definitely remember. This book is a combination of drama and mystery. The book kept me waiting for the next scene with the gradual unexpected elements that just kept popping up. If at any point in the book you felt you could solve this disturbing mystery ms. Wallace was always sure to throw a monkey wrench into your thoughts.
             There were many characters involved in this book. Valerie Vincent is one of the main characters. She is a single mother raising her toddler daughter, Joanna. Valerie works for a woman named Antonia Carrera, who also is a main character. Kristin Denby is a woman who used to work for Antonia, but are now just friends. Johnny Starr is Valerie's ex – husband.
             Johnny Starr became an alcoholic when he was married to Valerie. His behavior couldn't be tolerated so they separated. Johnny's parents are very religious people and seem to think the world of their son. Because they do they choose to accuse Valerie of every wrong thing that he has done. Since their divorce Johnny has not been seen or able to contact. This is over a period of numerous years. His parents would do anything to get their Johnny back. Knowing this you can imagine why the Starr's (Johnny's parents) were the prime suspects of the kidnapping of Joanna and the death of Esther Klein, her babysitter. Valerie thought that the Starr's kidnapped Joanna just to lure Johnny back to them. Although this did seem sensible, that wasn't the case.
             Over the course of many distractions the mystery did unfold. It turned out that Antonia Carrera and Kristin Denby were behind it the whole time. Kristin was very jealous of Valerie taking her position. It wasn't even like Kristin got fired; she simply quit because of her "so-called" new love. Antonia favored Valerie, so Kristen tried to find out...
