             ife left me" (Grimm 606). He doesn't even acknowledge that Cinderella is his daughter and it's obvious that he doesn't hold a very high opinion of her. The king organized a celebration that was to last three days so all of the girls in the land would be able to make it. The king wanted his son, the prince, to get married, and he was to choose sometime during this celebration. Cinderella's stepmother wouldn't let her go because she didn't have anything to wear. But she decided to let her go if she could separate two bowlfulls of lentils out of the ashes. With the help of the birds, Cinderella finished cleaning up the mess in time but still couldn't go because she didn't have anything to wear. So Cinderella went out to the 'magic' tree and pleaded "Shake your branches, little tree, throw gold and silver down on me" (Grimm 604). Then the little white bird dropped her dress and slippers to her. Cinderella actually made it to all three nights of the celebration and each nig!
             ht her dress and slippers were more fantastic than the night before. Each night she slipped away from the prince and ran home so no one will find out who she was. On the last night the prince thought ahead and set a trap for Cinderella. She ended up getting her slipper stuck to some pitch on the staircase before escaping and the prince decide
