A vs. A

             Birth control was forgotten, the condom was flawed, an attacker came in the night, the timing just isn't right, the boyfriend is gone and you are all alone... pregnant. What are you going to do? In today's society a popular answer, as well as one that is accepted worldwide is abortion. The all too forgotten old fashion answer is adoption. Adoption is one of many options for women when they are caught with a surprise, or unwanted pregnancy. For many women, adoption is the best option for several reasons: it is healthier for the woman, it gives the child a chance, and it is morally correct.
             Many women look towards abortion as the answer to their "problem". However they fail to see the many side effects of abortion. Adoption is better than abortion for both mental and physical reasons. Those who have abortions often run the risk for other problems to occur. Problems consist of everything from hemorrhaging to never being able to have children again. The after effects include drowsiness, nauseated, weakness, and of course pain in the pelvic area. To be slightly more direct, abortions hurt. They are not pain free, and they are not free of repercussions.
             Another reason why adoption is the better option is for the mental well being of the mother. The after effects of abortion or not just physical, but also emotional. Many who undergo the procedure suffer from sever depression, inadequacy, ultimate loneliness, and sometimes even uncontrollable spouts of anger and rage. Although thoughts of abandonment may accompany giving your child up for adoption, they are nothing like thoughts of murder. Besides which, many who give their child up, are still involved in their lives to some degree. And it is also not uncommon to reunite mother and child after years of separation.
