To stay home or not to stay home, that is the question.
             As the time to move on to higher learning draws closer and closer, there are many decisions that a senior must make. Selecting a university can be a truly frustrating choice to make because there are so many factors that must be considered. Among these decisions, is whether to go to a near-by university or to a school that is out-of-state. Attending a university while remaining at home differs greatly than going to an out-of-state university in price and the experience one receives.
             Price is a deciding factor for many perspective university students. Obviously for one who stays at home, expenses can be much less than those of an out-of-state student. There is a base charge called tuition and fees no matter what university one attends. Tuition is the charge for instruction, and fees cover the services a university provides such as the library, student activities, or a health center. The projected average tuition and fees for a student who attends a near by university in his state for the year 2000-2001 is $3,243 versus an out-of-state cost of about $8,463 according to the East Ridge High School guidance councilors. If one attends an out-of-state university the cost does not stop there. While attending a university, there will be several options for where and how one wants to live and eat. Most universities offer a variety of on-campus housing including dorms, larger suites, or townhouses, and also offer several meal plans. These costs are class!
