A Trip to California

             I was looking through old pictures today with some friends from high school and we had some great memories. I don't think I have ever written about the time I went to California, guess it's now or never. I swear it seems like it was just yesterday. After a long day of practice, our band director called us for a daily meeting. She had everyone, band members and non-band members, cram into the big horn shaped room, and we all sat down to hear what she had to say. A new event was coming up and it would require us to travel. Our destination was Los Angeles, California, and Disneyland. Everyone in the room was ecstatic. Faces were glowing with large smiles and sounds of chit chat were flowing all over the room. The band director calmed the group down, and she continued with her speech. She said that we would be performing in the "Music Days" parade that Disneyland hosts every year around the spring season. The trip was to last a full three days, and we not only would be working but also be able to have lots of fun. The last thing she said was that on the last day of our trip, we were scheduled to perform with Ray Manzeryck from the famous group The Doors. Everyone in the room was speechless. She gave us the information we needed to sign up, and we all went home with high hopes that our parents would approve.
             Later that night, I read every single line of information that was on the papers given to us. The last page that I looked at was the cost sheet. Once I looked at that sheet, my high hopes were slowly declining toward hopelessness. I looked over the papers one more time and got the courage to go talk to my mother. I went into the living room and could smell the fresh scent of nail polish remover that my mother had been using on her nails.
