Jason and Medea have a long history together. Medea, as a young woman, falls in love with Jason. Although it may seem that Jason loves her as well, in the end Jason does not love her at all. Jason is the type of man that pursues only wealth and power not love and family. When Jason leaves Medea to wed the princess of Greece, Medea is extremely hurt and upset. After all she has sacrificed her family, her home, even her own brother's life for him. She has given him two children. And yet he still leaves her. After realizing all she has done for him and what he has given her in return, Medea's sadness turns into complete rage. As with today's society, more often than not, it seems a person with a wounded heart will eventually turn that rage into revenge. This is exactly what happens in Medea's mind.
             When the King hears of Medea's hatred towards his daughter, he assumes Medea will try to inflict harm on the princess and he exiles her and her two boys. Reluctantly the King gives Medea one day to arrange things. This is all the time she feels she needs to plot her revenge on Jason.              Jason fathering any more children and then she takes the innocent lives of her own two boys. After watching his new bride and his father in law die from Medea's poison, Jason goes to Medea to kill her. When he arrives, he learns that not only has he lost his wife but his children have also been murdered by Medea. Jason now feels the loss and hurt that Medea has felt because of his abandonment. Medea is now satisfied that she has broken Jason down to the lonely, miserable level she is on.
