media history reflectioms

             Throughout the seventeen years of my life, media has highly influenced me. The media is everywhere you look. It is in the books we read, the music we listen to and on the Internet that we use. It is very interesting how much media has changed in just a short seventeen years, mostly because of computers.
             I still can remember the first books my mother read to me. They were the Mercer Mayer books. As I grew older, I remember reading the great Doctor Suess books. These books were both entertaining and educational. The first movie I can remember watching, with my sister, is "Land Before Time." I still have that movie. After watching "Land Before Time," I became interested in dinosaurs.
             Middle school is where I really showed an interest in music. My brother, Bob, listened to the old 93 K-rock and Sweet 98, so those were the stations I listened to. Bob was also the first one to take me to a concert. I still can remember it like it was yesterday. We went to see Metallica in Ames, Iowa, when I was only 13 years old. That was like nothing I had ever seen. What impressed me the most was the noise level and the large crowd of people, people of all different kinds. Metallica was also the first CD I ever bought, which I still listen to.
             Now that I am a senior in high school, media and technology have changed so much. We now have this crazy thing called the Internet. Who would have thought this would ever happen fifteen years ago? Televisions have changed significantly, now we play DVD's instead of VHS tapes.
             Media is everywhere, some of it is good and some not so good. The Internet has definitely made our lives a little easier. For instance, you can order items quickly and also look up information for school projects with the click of a mouse. However, there seems to be more violence these days, in books, in music, in movies, on television and on some of the many web sites on the Intern
