Telecom Deregulation

Like the US, European companies are breaking up many monopolies, and have begun swift deregulation policies of the telecommunications industry. This will most likely lead to further deregulation of other large industries as well. This seems to have posed both success and difficult challenges for several firms.
Unisource was the original alliance formed, and many others have now followed suit. Each has a link to a large US carrier such as AT&T, MCI, and Sprint. to form the three largest. Unisource is by far the largest and most developed and thereby has posed to be the most successful. Others have found it difficult to "achieve critical mass" in the market place, but are working through their struggles. It will be interesting to see how the US based companies fair through this policy change, and with the economic strife in Russia, Asia, and Latin America who knows who will fair the best and who will fall by the wayside.
