The play The Crucible contains many different themes. Some of which includes
             fear and suspicion are infections and can produce a state of general hysteris, people who claim to be
             pious and virtuous may in fact be guilty of hypcrisy and one of the most important themes in The
             Crucible is the idea that it is more noble to die with integrity than it is to compromise one's
             princibles in order to live. This is the idea that can be supported by the actions of the character John
             Proctor. By the end of the pkay this character is forced to make a life threting or life changing
             John Proctor, one of the play's main characters is the type of person who stands
             strongly for what he beleives in. It is not easy trying to get him to cahnge his mind once he has
             already made it up. John Proctor is a stong minded individual and feels that no one has the right to

             released. Many innocent people have lost their lines due to the evilness in these young girls who has
             accused these people of practicing witchcraft. Because of these same girls John Proctor's wife ,
             Elisabeth, is taken away and put into jail. John becomes upset and furious because he konws that his
             wife is a christiam woman who does not lie, let alone practice withcraft. " I falter nothing but I may
             wonder if my story will be credited in such a court. I do wonder on it , when such a steady - minded
