The Crucible

            In the film The Crucible directed by Nicholas Hytner, the character of Elizabeth Proctor, wife of husband John Proctor who is accused of Witchcraft and has an affair with Abigail Williams. The behavioural aspects Elizabeth shows through out this film are how she is Morally pure and Religious, She is caring and devoted, and is cold,distant and repressed.
            
             Firstly, At the dinner scene Elizabeth is dressed in white while Johns black costume shows "God knows how black my sins are" This behavioural aspect about her is important because it reveals to the audience that she is morally pure and good. In the end scene Elizabeth and John are standing by the water where they both admit their faults about Johns affair, accused of withcraft. This aspect of Elizabeth has an impact on the film because it shows that she is religious.
            
             Secondly, When Elizabeth is being arrested because she has been accused of Witchcraft, she says "Mary, there is enough bread for you in the morning." Another example is when she stands by her husband when he is being accused of witchcraft she is forgiving of his affair with Abigail "I cannot judge you." This aspect of Elizabeth has an impact on the film because it shows that she is a caring and devoted wife.
            
             Thirdly, In the beginning of the film there is little warmth in her characte. This is shown when John says "It's a cold house you keep." Meaning her personality because John is passionate which is why he had an affair with Abigail cause she is passionate aswell while Elizabeth has an impact on the film because it reveals to the audience that shes cold, distant and repressed....
