Is the Electoral College all it's cracked up to be in this person's opinion the Electoral College. The question on your mind is if you think this is so bad why do we still have it, we still have it because nobody has passed a bill to abolish it. Yet no one have passed a bill more than seven hundred attempts to abolish or modify the Electoral College have been proposed (NARA.GOV).
             The history of the Electoral College is filled with controversy and other problems. One of the main controversies are that when the founding father enacted the Electoral College because they though" ordinary citizens were not really qualified to choose their leaders or could not be trusted to do so directly" (We the People Second Edition). Another reason for the Electoral College is that it was a compromise between federalists wanting Congress to choose the President and Vice President, while anti-federalist wanting a direct election by people. To date there has been well over 700 attempts to modify of abolishing the Electoral College (NARA.COM).
             There are many disadvantages to the system by which out President and Vice President are selected, called the Electoral College. One of the major disadvantages is that all that one of our the presidential candidates needs to accomplish to win on of the states electoral votes is to win but one more popular vote than his closest opponent. Another thing is that with this system, the Electoral College, a candidate could win the popular vote for the country but still lose the election. For an example of this, Al Gore and George W. Bush in this year's election, Al Gore won the popular vote but yet with problem in the Florida election George W. Bush has won the election by the Electoral College.
