Soft, wet tears trickled down my face. The light, which filtered through the trees into my bedroom, glistened in my damp eyes. The edge of the cliff drew closer in my mind. It felt like the wind was blowing through my hair, the folds in my clothes were throwing themselves around me. I felt free, like nothing was stopping me. The cliff pulled away and my mind was fixed back into reality. My complicated way of thinking confused myself; they made me feel trapped, like there was always a thick wall of reality holding back from my dreams. The images which flickered through my head confused me; blood streaming down my leg from the cuts, myself hanging from a tree just sort of swinging there lifeless and cold. Why did I think this stuff, why is my life so horrible to me but perfect to the onlookers around me.
My brain is like a time bomb-ticking slowly away-just waiting for something to start the explosion, which will hurt anyone close to me.
The doorbell rang in the distance, awakening me from my trance. Somehow urging me to it. I got up to answer it. My soft footsteps marked the shiny polished floorboards as I tiptoed down the hallway. I turned the handle and pulled the door open suddenly my heart jumped, missing a beat; a letter had just fallen through the mail slot, echoing as it hit the floor.
How are you? It has been ages since I've seen you and I've missed you-hope you haven't missed me too much! I know it has been about two years since I've seen you after moving to Ireland but I'm coming to Australia soon with my boyfriend Andrew. I was hoping to catch up with you.
